A Celestial Legend At 84, By Eldegboye

It is another auspicious and wonderful moment to acknowledge and celebrate a living epitome of faith. Among the living icons of faith at present is the servant of God, a Celestial legend, Prophet (Dr.) Paul Olowaremilekun Omokehinde Okuneye JP., a Venerable Superior Evangelist.

It is a tribute that is well deserved by a man among men, a disciplined, humble, industrious and godly servant of God, who embraced the work of God as a serious business, deserving care, focus and optimum loyalty and submission to the Lord.

We join the family, friends and admirers globally, to celebrate the grace and glory of God, on the occasion of his 84th birthday anniversary, scheduled for the 1st day of September, 2024.

This Post highlights the remarkable details about the global Ministerial exploits of P. O., as fondly referred to by his peers and colleagues in the ministry.

By exploring the Book, The Global Exploits Of A Missionary Prophet, his autobiography released in 2020, which provides access to a detailed reference material on his life and times as a missionary Prophet, including his Ministerial Call to serve in a global Vine yard, which began in 1970 as a Missionary Prophet attaché.

Prior to his calling into full time ministry, his peers at the National Headquarters of the Celestial Church Of Christ, Makoko, Lagos, in the 1970s, called him Snr. Evangelist R.A. Cole’s Prophet, due to the visible mentorship alliance between both parties and the several missionary trips they undertook together.

In 1976, at the prime age of 36 years, the Missionary Prophet resigned from secular official duties, to pursue full time Ministerial exploits. His last secular official duties were his functions as the Personal Assistant to the legendary Ife Prince, Okunade Sijuade (as he then was), who subsequently reigned as His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife.

Officially designated as the first full time Shepherd of the Celestial Church Of Christ posted outside the shores of Africa, by Most Reverend S.B.J. Oshoffa (of blessed memory), in the year 1976. Subsequently, he was posted in 1977, as the Pioneer Overseas Shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ, with headquarters at Harton Street SE-8 Deptford, England, the United Kingdom.

The pursuit of full time Ministerial exploits took him through the continents of Africa, Europe and North America respectively.

With the Gospel and Prophetic mantle, he impacted several lives positively, through Salvation, Healing, Deliverance and multiple Signs & Wonders to the glory of God.

The journey of the Missionary Prophet began at birth, into a Christian family that belonged to the Apostolic Group, which metamorphosed into the present day Christ Apostolic Church.

He lived briefly at the Christ Apostolic Church vineyard at Ede, in the 1950s, at the present day Osun State of Nigeria, under the Prophetic Mantle and guardian of the renowned servant of God, of the Baba Abiye fame, known officially as Prophet/Evangelist Samson O. Akande (of blessed memory).

A significant health challenge was the burning bush that attracted him to the Celestial Church of Christ in 1967, which eventually became the platform prepared by God for his global exploits in the Ministry.

A product of the matrimonial union of two families in the Akile Ijebu Kingdom of Western Nigeria. The renown Ajayi Jegede family who gave their daughter, Emily Arinola Ajayi (of blessed memory) in marriage to Samuel Adesanya Okuneye (of blessed memory) in the mid 1920s.

Pa Samuel A. Okuneye worked with the Railways and the famous UAC before venturing into business as a Produce Merchant.

On the other hand, Mama Emily Arinola Okuneye traded in the indigenous fabrics, called Aso Oke, before delving into soap production, for which she became celebrated as Mama Olose (Soap Mama).

The couple had their first child in 1930 according to Pa Samuel Adesanya, while he was thirty years old however, the baby girl died at infancy leading to a decade long season of infants mortality.

To deal with this ugly and devastating season, the family became deeply attached to God, in their Christian faith as members of the Diamond Stones Society, formerly of the Anglican Church, Ijebu Diocese until 1929 when their leaders were expelled.

The prayer group eventually metamorphosed into the present day Christ Apostolic Church, to the glory of God.

The lord remembered the family and blessed the couple with a set of twin, a girl and a boy, on the 1st day of September, 1940, at their No.3, Brooks Street home, by Broad street Lagos.

At last! At the matured age of 40 years, Pa S.A. Okuneye became a joyous father of Taiwo Adesola (now Mrs Adebonojo) and Oluwaremilekun Williams Omokehinde (now Paul) Okuneye.

Indeed, the twin are the only children of the couple, who were blessed with several grand children in their life time, to the glory of God.

Among his several Prophesies was the 1975 prediction of Prince Okunade Sijuade’s Succession to the revered throne of Ile Ife, which was fulfilled in 1980.

Similarly, in the year 2001, as part of his famous Annual First Sunday Prophecies For The Year, for which he was tagged a Prophet of doom, until the manifestations. He predicted the deadly and unfortunate bomb explosions, that rocked Lagos, that year, emanating from a military facility, in the Ikeja axis of the State.

He also pioneered the growth of Celestial Church of Christ in the United Kingdom, as the first full time Clergy transferred from the National Headquarters, Makoko, Lagos to oversee affairs in the United Kingdom and Europe between 1977/1979.

Upon his redeployment in 1979, he was succeeded by Rev. P.H. Ajose (later His Eminence Pastor, CCC W/W.) Of blessed memory.

Upon his redeployment to Nigeria in 1979, his deployment to Edopolor Parish, Benin City, Nigeria, as replacement for the departing Philip H. Ajose was abortive, due to inability of prompt departure, necessitating another posting by Rev S.B.J. Oshoffa to Aguda Ogba Parish, at Ikeja, Lagos, where he was elevated as Assistant Evangelist and Area Supervisor in 1979.

He held the Office of District Head/Superintendent at the following Parishes:

• Dopemu Roundabout

• Maroko Oriyanrin

• Ikorodu Road Parish (Shomolu/Kosofe)

• Akure respectively.

He was deployed as the State Superintendent of Delta State, Nigeria by His Eminence Reverend A.A. Bada (of blessed memory) in 1993, where he presided until AD. 2001.

Between March 2003 and 2010, he held supervisory Ministerial positions at the Celestial Church of Christ, Diocese of the United States of America, including Camden City, New Jersey Parish in 2003.

In 2004, he was redeployed to Illinois, as Regional Supervisor in Charge of Region “B” with base at Calumet City, Illinois.

By December, 2004, the Region was reorganized to facilitate his relocation to Dallas, Texas, in a new Region “C” created out of the existing Region “B”, where he assumed office in January, 2005. At Arlington Texas, he presided over Houston and other Cities in Texas.

Subsequently, by late December 2005, he relocated to California, an integral part of Region “C” and resided at Bloomington (2005-2010), with An Administrative Office at Los Angeles.

On attainment of the age of 70 years at the International Ministerial Supervisory desks, he sought and received Pastoral Approval for Concessionary posting back home to Nigeria, in 2010.

He led by example and discipline, using the Word as his foundation in the Ministry and the standard for daily life. He maintained a monogamous home as prescribed by the gospel.

Prophet Paul O. Okuneye is married to Mother Celestial Beatrice Adedoyinsola Okuneye, in a Union blessed with Seven Children and several grand Children to the Glory of God.

While others embraced the Ministry for pecuniary gains, the Missionary Prophet declined to commercialize his Prophetic gift like modern day Balaam.

At 84, the Missionary Prophet is worthy of our celebration and emulation by the emerging generation of Leaders and Prophets in the Ministry.

We celebrate daddy as a symbol of hope for a new Celestial Church of Christ, where the Word of God is sacrosanct and Jesus Christ is the only foundation and a sure Way to eternity in Heaven.

We equally salute his trail blazing strides and disciplined leadership in the Ministry. We wish him more years of exemplary leadership in wholesome health.
